Fort Myers at the Gulf of Mexiko

Fort Myers is located at the west coast of Florida at the Gulf of Mexico. About 60.000 residents live within the city limits, the metropolitan area counted about 600.000 residents in 2010. Fort Myers is located between Tampa and Naples and for its beautiful beaches and its multitude of golf courses beloved by tourists and locals alike.

The city is well known, because Thomas Alva Edison and Henry Ford chose Fort Myers for their winter homes, the Ford Edison Winter Estate.

Some of the off-coast islands provide fine opportunities for bathing and swimming, the most beautiful are Estero Island and Sanibel Island, both well known for the white sandy beaches.

Sanibel Island is a refreshing getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether your ideal island vacation includes quiet rest and relaxation or you have a more active itinerary in mind, the possibilities on Sanibel Islands are nearly endless.

To prevent impairment of the ecosystem, Sanibel's walkways are mainly built up of wood. The main attraction is the old lighthouse, which seems to be a relic out of time. The island is visited by tourists and sunbathers, but it is far from crowded.

Cape Coral

North of Fort  Myers is Cape Coral. About 170.000 residents live on an area of 115 square miles. The city is known as a 'Waterfront Wonderland", since with over 400 miles (640 km) of navigable waterways, Cape Coral has more miles of canals than any other city in the world. Many properties offer direct access to the Caloosahatchee River or Pine Island Sound.

Two bridges connect Cape Coral to Fort Myers: the "Midpoint  Bridge" and the "Cape Coral Bridge"; toll is charged when going into the direction of Cape Coral.

We suggest you rent a boat to explore the surroundings.
